Who am I?
Hi, my name is Leanne Hinds and I live in the beautiful island of Barbados in the Caribbean. My company is a small custom cake making business called Love At First Bite which caters for a variety of special occasions.

How I got started…
My interest in and passion for cake making started in 2013 when I first made cheesecakes, inspired by recipes I saw in my local newspaper. As I did not like the cheesecakes I had sampled from others, I decided to make my own and, soon, friends started to ask me to make cakes for them. My first real client requested a birthday cake for a little girl’s birthday. I made my first vanilla fondant and the rest, they say, is history! Love At First Bite was officially born in October 2014 and all my cakes are still custom-made and specially handcrafted.
I love being creative and free spirited with my custom cakes, although I value my client’s input regarding their design preferences. My ultimate challenge is for my clients to say “make whatever you want”. Originality is important for me. In fact, I do not make the same cake design twice unless asked. I am always looking for inspiration, especially on Pinterest.

My customers love when I do special designs just for them. My signature original design is what I call my “tutu cake”. This is where I place a real dancer’s tutu around a custom cake for extra flair to make the cake “pop”!
I always make sure I use quality ingredients to make the freshest, most delicious, homemade fillings, cakes and other desserts to please my customers each and every time. That way, they really do fall in love at first bite!
